Our History

ProAir is an Irish owned company founded in 1995 by Galway native David McHugh in a small office and workshop in Cummer, Co. Galway. There are now 3 locations; with the head office and the manufacturing facility in the Polkeen Industrial Estate in Castlegar, Co. Galway, the Dublin office, Greenogue Industrial Estate, Rathcoole and the Cork Office, Foxhole Industrial Estate, Youghal, Co. Cork.

ProAir’s early beginnings were in service, way back in the early nineties. Requests were coming in for better ventilation solutions and heat recovery ventilation was the obvious solution. This prompted the development of the ProAir range as seen today.

In 2004, before ProAir as we know it today was born, the first units were manufactured from a moulded plastic and installed in customers’ homes. This unit became known as the PA600. The following year its sister product, the PA300, was developed for smaller installations.

An upgrade of the units was undertaken in 2011/12 utilizing the highly insulating, sound resistant, strong and easily workable material, expanded polyethylene.

Due to nationwide demand for the innovative range of ProAir Systems, the Dublin office was opened to more easily serve the nationwide footprint established today.

In 2016 after much testing and perseverance, the PA600 PLI achieved the prestigious mark of Passivhaus certification.

In 2018, we proudly saw the production of our 5000th HRV unit here at our new facility in Castlegar Galway and with our newly remodelled PA 600LI unit.

ProAir are looking forward to working closely with you the customer to not just provide the optimum solution, but also to contributing to the local and national economy with Irish manufacturing jobs.

Message from our CEO –          David McHugh

We service what we sell. Because of our background in the service industry, we have a deep understanding of our customer’s needs, whether these are home-owners, builders or developers. The end-user can be assured that their HRV system will work away silently in the background, keeping them healthy and comfortable in their ultra-low-energy private space.

Builder / developer clients can be happy that their clients understand and appreciate the valuable system that has been provided and that with the ProAir after-sales process in operation they never need to expect a complaint related to indoor environment.

This will be the case, as the system will have been specifically designed for the application, professionally installed and diligently maintained. It is this end-to end service which makes ProAir unique among manufacturers of these units.

It is our intention to maintain this level of customer focus as we grow into the future and greatly expand the large circle of friends (customers) we currently have throughout Ireland, the UK Europe.

Meet Our Team

  • We have HRV in our block-built house. Installed by ProAir of Galway. Very professional and thorough job, highly recommended. Cost was c. 8k, but we have two units due to the size of the house. Been in constant operation since October, no issues so far. Complexity? Turn it on and leave it. When you have a shower/bath press boost. That’s it.

  • We also got ours from ProAir and are very happy with it. We were strapped for extra cash, but our geo-therm. guys recommended the MHRV as a way of making the whole system more efficient. No condensation is a great thing. Your house will be healthier overall.

  • "We were fighting with a lot of dampness and mould using electric dehumidifiers with little success. The heat recovery ventilation system removed all of the problems. No more dampness, no more mould and our windows are dry in the morning. The installation was done quickly and professionally. Huge thanks to ProAir!"

  • “Very professional from start to finish, easy to work with and always available and willing to answer a technical question. The unit is very quiet, even on boost mode it’s hardly audible. From my research I found it to be the most efficient on the market also, and it’s manufactured here in Ireland. For the self-builder, I found ProAir very good to work with, they were flexible with the scope of works and the price reflected this. They furnished me with detailed drawings and all the ducting needed, they installed the unit and commissioned at the end, this suited my requirements perfectly”

  • “I contacted ProAir for advice and pricing for my self build. The customer service was brilliant and every staff member I encountered was very helpfully explaining the system and answering my queries. The staff who called to site were efficient and professional and called as per the agreed times. I have already recommended ProAir to a friend and would have no hesitation in recommending their services in the future”

  • “Extremely happy with our ProAir and their service in general, from my initial phone call to their site visit, installation process and after care service. I found them very easy and helpful to deal with, as well as good value. Constant fresh air and a handy display console to tell me if the system is working correctly or needs a filter change etc. Would highly recommend"
