PROAIR FRPRO

FRPRO – MECHANICAL EXTRACT VENTILATION UNIT (MEV)

A Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) system provides continuous extract ventilation of stale and moisture laden air from wet rooms: kitchens, bathrooms, shower rooms, utility rooms, and toilets, to a central extract fan via a system of ductwork. The extracted air is then normally discharged outside via a single vent. Replacement air is provided via ventilation openings in the living/bedroom walls. MEV systems help provide good indoor air quality, protecting your home from condensation, damp, and mould.

MEV is a quieter and more efficient system compared to separate fans. The unit is mounted in the attic/ loft or in a cupboard and ducted to extract polluted air from the wet rooms of the house.

MEV is the basic requirement to achieve compliance under current building regulations (Ventilation-Part F) and is a cost-effective method of ventilating your home.

ProAir design, supply & install throughout Ireland, an end-to-end service to ensure your home will be healthy and comfortable. Our experienced design team provides bespoke solutions for each and every customer. In addition, our installation team work efficiently around other trades to ensure a smooth and timely installation. We can install an MEV system into new build properties or retrofit into most existing homes. ProAir works with many of the SEAI registered One Stop Shops who support people through the process of upgrading their home.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEV AND MVHR?

Whereas installing an MEV system provides only the extraction of stale air, installing an MVHR system provides you with a fully balanced ventilation system throughout your home, as it combines the extraction of stale, moisture laden air and the supply of fresh, filtered and passively heated air to all rooms. This results in a far more energy efficient system than MEV and a higher level of air quality in your home.

MVHR systems are of additional benefit for areas with high air pollution because of the filter element, and for those who suffer from allergies or asthma. They are also ideal for areas with noise pollution as there is no necessity to open windows or doors to assist ventilation.

Based on the outlined additional benefits, ProAir would recommend the installation of an MVHR system wherever possible. If you are unsure which is the right system for you, please contact us, our sales team would be happy to discuss your options and recommend the correct solution for your home.
